Where they stand
Views on the record but not scoreable bets: no single number and deadline to grade. Shown in their exact words, never scored.
On $700B of AI investment: AI 'is distorting the markets much more than it is the C suite' (@0:35); 'Every time this happened before the markets will get to the right place. There will be dislocation' (@1:01). He does not call timing: 'where the dislocations... I don't know'.
“At some point investors will demand a return. And if you're worth a trillion dollars and you traded 30 times that's thirty five billion dollars in income you need”
Nasdaq since this was said: ▼ -0.0% · 25,520 → 25,508 · as of 2026-07-20
Estimates AI investment 'is adding 30 basis points to 50 basis points of GDP growth' (@1:23) but adoption is slower than believed. Later, on Hollywood: fears AI hits employment - 'I see quite the opposite' (@10:19), citing his animated-film example ($200M/500 people/2 years falling to $50M/50 people/6 months, freeing creatives to make more content).
“So I'm not one who thinks from a business perspective there's going to be a big cliff in employment”
Balanced against a notable secondhand data point he reports: CEOs now 'think the economy is a one and a half percent economy. They would have thought it was a two to two and a half percent economy earlier in the year' (@2:20), with 'a level of caution that I haven't seen so much before' (@2:15), consumers through their savings, Michigan confidence at all-time lows, and energy-price turbulence.
“And I do believe the economy remains incredibly resilient for all the reasons everybody's thought over the past couple of years”
Record hyperscaler debt and equity issuance; crowding out other corporates 'Not yet' - 'there's a ton of liquidity. I am surprised that investors particularly on the debt side have been over describing [oversubscribing] by multiples' (@5:26-5:37, garbled).
“As soon as there is a turn in the hyperscalers I think we'll have a very different conversation”
Nasdaq since this was said: ▼ -0.0% · 25,520 → 25,508 · as of 2026-07-20
'They are. I don't believe in a position to catch up' (@6:41) on AI: 43 of the largest 50 AI companies are US-based, Europe has one (ASML, ~$800B); Germany/France flat, UK interest costs too high, no unified capital market ('intra family back and forth' @8:09). Concedes Europe is 'incredible' for intellectual capital but doesn't harness it.
“So I think it's a long time before Europe realizes the promise of what they want to achieve”
Scale thesis: only Netflix (30%) and Disney (12%) have double-digit streaming margins, 'then everybody falls off a cliff' (@9:31). 'The key for who is going to win is the company that can combine content with technology' (@11:43); Disney 'making progress', Ellison's Paramount 'trying' ('we're not closed yet'). Tech giants 'don't actually understand quality content yet' (@11:36). He is a paid adviser to both Paramount and Disney.
“I would say that if a content company doesn't become really tech native they'd have a problem”
