Where they stand
Views on the record but not scoreable bets: no single number and deadline to grade. Shown in their exact words, never scored.
Evy Hambro (BlackRock) tells Bloomberg copper prices will keep rising over time as paper currencies lose value; his focus is producer margins.
So we will see these price changes continuing. The key for us though as investors in the companies is what does that do for the margins of the producers.
Hambro says yields are rising because investors demand a higher return for lending to over-indebted, inefficient governments, with implications across assets.
the real reason I think the yields are going up is people are saying well if I want to lend money to a government that is spending that money badly and inefficiently I need a higher return for that.
Hambro says gold is the major beneficiary of governments' loss of purchasing power and that trend continues for the foreseeable future.
Gold is a major beneficiary of that because it's preserved purchasing path for decades if not you know hundreds if not thousands of years. And I think that trend is going to be with us for the foreseeable future.
Hambro says central banks are under-owned in gold as a reserve asset and will keep correcting that, since euros and gilts are poor alternatives to Treasuries.
gold is a is a natural one. And so I think the under ownership of gold as a reserve asset by central banks globally you know is something that's going to be corrected and we're seeing that take place.
